Dear Pioneer Families,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!  We hope that all of you have enjoyed your summer together and have had the chance to make memories that will last a lifetime.  While we know some of you wish the summer would continue, we are tremendously excited to begin this school year as we go back to our roots and remember what our school was built on - Pioneers!

This year we ask students, staff and parents to remember the true spirit of a Pioneer - someone who is the first...to explore a new idea, a new land, a new way of doing things.  There are so many modern pioneers from Reshma Saujani teaching girls to code to Kristen Chavis a 10 year old who teaches others about the environment! We can learn a lot from their achievements and be inspired by the words and actions!   We also know that each of our students is capable of greatness based on their hard work, effort and determination combined with the support of you their parents and fabulous BES teachers and staff.

While we blaze a new trail and find ways to push our Pioneers into greatness, we will continue to focus on other things that make our campus great including PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) and our RtI (Response to Intervention) Model.  We will also continue enriching the lives of our students through Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) and Physical Education (PE).  PE with our specialist will happen in first semester, while VAPA - music and dance will be second semester.  Both PE and VAPA will be supplemented by work done in the classroom with your teacher and the rest of the students.

We hope that all of you will join us on this journey as we hope to inspire our students to “Be Pioneers!”

We look forward to an amazing year!

Dr. Amber Lane and Mrs. Natalie Waddell
